Project Life Cycle
No matter the requirements of a project, every project has a definite life cycle. Project managers must understand the importance of each of the project phase to ensure that the project navigates through the phases of a project cycle. The project cycle has four phases. The first phase is the concept phase where certain recorded data such as graphs, statistics, charts, tables, and other data are analyzed to aid the successful completion of a project. The second phase is the planning phase where project teams sit down and discuss to find the best way to execute the project and the development of the plan. The third phase is the execution stage where the actual thing is being executed or performed. And the last he is the closeout stage where the project is completed and terminated so all the team members can go their separate ways.
Project processes are referred to as the main organizing tool. A project manager who understand a project process will be able to understand whose duties is to complete a certain process and the time and phase of a project process activity should such a process be completed.
The first phase is the initiation process:- this is the phase where the project has been approved and different methodologies and approaches are presented to find the best way to complete the project.
The second phase is the project planning process. In this phase, the goals and objectives of the project are clearly defined and detailed so that the goals are realistic and achievable.
The third project process phase is the executing stage. This is one of the most important phases where real tasks are carried out according to how it is laid down in the project plan.
The fourth process actually takes place throughout the project duration after the executing process. It is called the controlling process. This process where the manager has to perform much of its duties by monitoring various activities to ensure that the project is on the right path and it is achievable within the allocated time.
The final project process phase is the close process. This is the process the project where the project comes to an end point. The project is terminated here after achieving its desired goal and all project teams are disengaged.
