A global project is a set task that cuts across multiple cultures or backgrounds, simply put; it is a project that is based in various countries with different time zones around the global world. With global projects, multiple project management teams from different organizations, cultures, and languages are spread across different countries, each working on a single project at the same time towards the same goal. The success of the team and quality of the project delivered is influenced by these differences, adding challenges to project and program managers, team members, and PMOs. Innovative ideas or concepts can be improved on by nurturing various advantageous contributions. Seminars with concerned personnel can be organized by the project manager to pull different ideas together and to assess their risks and opportunities. The same approach is applicable when the international strengths and weaknesses from social, religious, economic, environmental, political, and technical perspectives are being identified. However, a high number of global project managers would have been faced with one miscommunication or other caused by differing opinions on behaviors or values. Conflicts like this often consume time and energy during operation. Most team members are allocated to projects that best suit their capacity and availability.

By having a solid knowledge of the different cultural and leadership theories a relationship built on trust can be developed with various stakeholders. Similarly, organizing training and seminars can be a valuable tool. It should be noted though that different situations should be anticipated as they can bring about innovations. Hence, a good project manager ready to resolve conflicting cases and build from differences must have Cross-cultural collaboration, Global team leadership ability, Trust building ability, Conflict resolution skill, and Coaching.

Global Projects bring with it various challenges, such as distance and distorted time zones that require special attention to excel in daily tasks. Project managers spend most of their time communicating information, compiling project status and reports, collecting data from and distributing information to team members, distributing essential information to critical stakeholders daily in any project. Adding all these daily tasks to the multilingual and cross-cultural barriers to be broken, one can see that communication activities are far from being simple. Global project managers must understand the communication channels between the team members and the project stakeholders and be ready to define with techniques, rules, and templates of a good communication strategy.

 Global Organizations

Impact on organizational cultures and structures must be thought of whenever a coalition project or program spanning different countries is done. The global organization program and project structures should be designed concerning the location of the human resources while encouraging communication between the team members. Worldwide program office interviews the international specialists and provides adequate training and organizational support to the global program and project managers. For an efficient global organization, there should be sufficient global project structures, selection of suitable international human resources, global project management offices, Organizational support, and Global collaborative networks.

 Collaborative Tools and Techniques

These two technology areas implement collaborations on global projects. The steps involved are requirement evaluation, investigation to determine the solution, provision of the necessary training. Organizations must be creative with their techniques to make the tools widely known and preferred by employees across the globe.
